Archiv Zenlocc Report (dt) In einem Business, das vor allem von Solokünstlern dominiert ist, haben es Gruppen bekanntlich schwer, doch hier kommt eine Crew mit viel Potential: Zenlocc. Benannt nach ihrem ersten ermordeten Produzenten haben sich nach fünf Jahren wechselnder Besetzung neun talentierte Mitglieder gefunden, die vor allem durch Vielseitigkeit glänzen. Magnum Pyih und Jeronimo sind DJs, während Scantana Rapparts beisteuert. Gesanglich wird das Ganze unterstützt von Sugh, Luke, Ill Phil und den drei Damen in der Gruppe: Katash, Dimples und Buju Bantons Schwester Adina „Dina“ Myrie. Im Moment arbeiten die neun Kingstoner fleißig an ihrem ersten Album, das unter Taxi Records voraussichtlich in den nächsten Monaten erscheinen wird. Für „Zenlocc forever – The saga begins“ sind bereits 15 Songs aufgenommen, die sich im Prozess des Mischen und Mastering befinden, doch Scantana verrät: „Wir werden noch ein paar Songs mehr aufnehmen und dann die Besten auswählen, um den Hörern ein richtig gutes Album zu präsentieren.“ Wer schon vor der Albumveröffentlichung auf den Geschmack kommen möchte, hat ab September Gelegenheit dazu. Auf Sly & Robbies neuem Riddim „Crown“ ist sowohl die Gruppe mit einem Tune namens „The garrison“ vertreten als auch Rapper Scantana in der Combination „Memories (Ghetto Heaven)“ mit Mitch. Auch visuell kann man sich freuen, die Videos zu „The garrison“ und einem weiteren Albumtrack „24 bounces“ sind bereits im Kasten. Named after their first murdered producer the group switched members for five years until nine versatile artists finally got together. Magnum Pyih and Jeronimo are DJs, while Scantana ads rap parts. At the moment the nine Kingston residents are busy working on their first album, which will be released at Taxi Records in the next couple of months. They recorded already 15 songs for „Zenlocc forever – The saga begins“, that are in the process of mixing and mastering, as Scantana ads: „We will still record some more songs and then choose the best tunes, to give the people a great album.“ For those of you who cannot wait until the album release, you can get yourself a taste of Zenlocc in september already.
